In order to find a suitable person for your mentorship, you should be clear in advance about the topics and questions you want to work on in your mentorship. Once these key points have been clarified for you, you can make the settings in the search mask magnifying glass black of the platform.

Here are a few tips on the search settings:

Do you need guidance as to which career fields are open to you with your degree?
Weight the field of study highest in your search and include related fields of study.

Do you want to gain a foothold in a specific industry?
Weight the occupational field highest. Disregard the weighting of the field of study, as it is less relevant whether the mentor has completed the same degree as you.

Do you first want to find out which activities you might enjoy or where your strengths lie?
TIP: In this orientation phase, it is also advisable to make an appointment at the Career Centre to find out where your strengths lie during a coaching session. Make an appointment for counselling at careercenter@uni-graz.at or +43 316 380 1048.

Are you considering whether self-employment is a career path for you?
It is best to look for people who have chosen a legal form for themselves that you also have in mind, rather than a specific industry.

Do you have a business idea but are not sure if it is sustainable?
Don't necessarily look for mentors in the same field of business or the same field of study: this way you avoid competitive situations on the one hand and benefit from a different perspective on your idea on the other.

There are no matches for your field of study?
Try to keep the field of study more general or select alternative fields. Many fields of study have only recently come into existence, which is why mentors may still have selected an old title for their former study program or entered it in a free text field (e.g. their study "Climate Geography" was originally "Geography").

The search term you selected in the free text field is not taken into account in the results?
If you add a weighting to the term, it will be ranked first in the selection list.
